Sexual Assault in Greek Life

Sexual assault in Greek Life is a national issue. What we know about campus sexual violence from RAINN is:

  • Male college-aged students (18-24) are 78% more likely than non-students of the same age to be a victim of rape or sexual assault.
  • College women ages 18-24 are 3x more likely than other women to be a victim of rape or sexual assault.
  • 23.1% of TGQN (transgender, genderqueer, nonconforming) college students have been sexually assaulted.

Members of Greek Life experience higher rates of sexual violence than college students who aren't members and studies show fraternity houses are a common location for campus sexual violence.

It's on each and every one of us in our community to prevent sexual assault. To request a program to learn more about what you can do, visit the Consortium on Gender-Based Violence's site. We recommend the Transforming Wildcat Culture presentation. It was designed by GREAC Peer Educators for Greek Life.
