Giving back to the local, national, and global community is a key component of the fraternity and sorority experience. Members are provided with opportunities to participate in hands-on volunteer work and implement philanthropic events to raise money for charitable causes. These opportunities ensure that fraternity and sorority members have a direct impact on their community and develop lifelong habits of giving back.
Community service is the act of giving one’s time to a cause without compensation. All fraternity and sorority members should complete at least 8 hours of community service each semester. Many organizations have an internal standard higher than this. Chapters have an officer position dedicated to finding and creating opportunities for members to meet this requirement. Throughout the semester, endless opportunities are shared with the community to support them in completing these hours. Members are also encouraged to seek out opportunities and causes they are passionate about on their own as well.

Philanthropy is the act of raising and donating funds to organizations and causes. Several of our chapters host large-scale programs that include ticket sales to raise money. From carnivals to galas, talent shows to bake sales, chapters find fun and unique ways to raise money and educate the community on important causes.
On average, the UA Greek community raises over $250,000 annually for charitable organizations!
